Welcome to Dr Rohan Jagathesan’s Cardiology Website

Thank you for visiting my website. I am a Consultant Cardiologist who works in the NHS and private sectors in West Essex and East Hertfordshire. I am accredited in all aspects of general cardiology and I have a specific interest in coronary artery disease & coronary intervention and aortic valve disease & minimally invasive transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). My consultant post is divided equally between the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow, Essex and the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre in Basildon, Essex. I am currently the Divisional Medical Director at the Essex Cardiothoracic Centre and the Essex Cardiac Lead for the East of England Strategic Clinical Network.

My website is designed to provide information about the common investigations that may be used to help diagnose the cause of cardiac symptoms including chest pains, palpitations, breathlessness, dizzyness and blackouts. It also describes treatment options available for cardiac conditions including coronary angioplasty and stenting, permanent pacemaker insertion, cardioversion and cardiac surgery.

I have also included some information on cardiac screening and risk assessment for individuals that are concerned about their heart.

I mentioned to Rohan last year that I always imagine an extra place at all our family get together especially at Christmas. I know the person will not come and the place will not be taken but it is always there, for the man who saved and extended my time on this earth. On the plus side I also have a place and am blessed and happy to take it and see the happy gathering of my growing family as they laugh, fight and love each other.
